RAMI oil on linen 122 x 183cm– inaugural St Patricks Art Prize 2008
The word is Venetian for branch and refers to the dead end streets that exist throughout Venice. The dark blue black tends to indicate the mystery of these streets and also the random maze like layout. The complex bright colour between introduced to convey some of the life force and gaiety of the festival.

'lamplight' pastel on paper
The drawing ‘Lamplight’ forms part of a series of paintings and drawings based around the theme of light rays and the complexities that
they evoke through shadow, colour and mood. This drawing explored the art deco lamps my father designed and made in the 1940’s.
These brass lamps using tinted, frosted glass emitted a mysterious soft light within the home and each room had a different barely
discernable colour that set the room and it’s function apart from the others. The lamp shape forms a central motif with bands or rays
spreading out consisting of multi coloured marks puncturing the dark.
